Home owner association
A homeowner’s association (HOA) is an organization in a subdivision, planned community or condominium that makes and enforces rules for the properties in its jurisdiction. HOAs also collect half yearly or annual service charges to pay for upkeep of common areas like parks, tennis courts, elevators and swimming pools and can levy special assessments on homeowners when the association lacks sufficient reserves to pay for unexpected repairs.

Being part of your HOA is a great thing in general. It takes good people on the HOA board and in the homeowners association to make your neighborhood a great place to live. Just be thankful for all the good that happens in your community. It takes everyone to make that happen.
